At the close of nominations at 12 noon Tuesday 16 September
2014, the following people have been accepted as candidates
and are listed below in the order in which they will appear on
the ballot papers, should an election be required.

The election will be conducted by post. Ballot papers and
pre-paid envelopes for each entitlement will be mailed out
between Monday 20 and Friday 24 October 2014 to every
person, body corporate and group listed on the voters roll at
roll close on Friday 8 August 2014. Voting is voluntary.
A person who has not received voting material by Friday
24 October 2014 and believes they are entitled to vote should
contact the Deputy Returning Of cer on 08 8276 3048.
Completed voting material must be returned to reach the
Returning Of cer by 5pm Friday 7 November 2014.
A ballot box will be provided at the Council of ce/s for
electors wishing to hand deliver their completed voting
material during of ce hours.
Vote Counting Location
The scrutiny and count will take place at Council Chambers,
49 Adelaide Road, Mannum from 9am on Saturday
8 November 2014. A provisional declaration will be made at
the conclusion of each election count.
Campaign Donations Return
Candidates must forward a Campaign Donations Return
to the Council Chief Executive Of cer
within 30 days after the conclusion
of the election.

Young greenies given
national award nod
WAIKERIE Primary School's
Youth Environment Team (YET) was
highly commended for its work at the
National Landcare Awards held in
Melbourne last week.
It is the first time the group has been
nationally recognised, having won the
South Australian 2013 Junior Landcare
Team award last year.
YET co-ordinator Jeany Winter said
the students were excited when their team
was announced at the awards.
"It is really exciting," she said.
"To be nationally recognised in the
youth action awards is really special.
"The students don't do it for the awards,
but it's an honour to be recognised for

Hoffmann and Ms Bishop travelled to
Melbourne to attend the awards evening
and also visited Werribee Zoo.
Xani and Sophie were introduced to
other finalists and went on a safari ride.
The group was also given the
opportunity to make enrichment food
toys for the meerkats.
The awards night included special
guests former prime minister Bob Hawke,
Getaway presenter Catriona Rowntree and
Gardening Australia's Costa Georgiadias.
WOOSHC school holiday program out now
CHILDREN will have
plenty to do over the
school holidays, thanks
to Waikerie Out of School
Hours Care (WOOSHC).
The first week of holiday
activities include a 'football
finals fever' day, when children
will be encouraged to wear
their favourite AFL team
The day will include a
longest football kicking
competition and a football
match, plus much more.
Children will then have
the opportunity to chose any
activities they wish on 'Free
Choice Frenzy' day.
For the keen adventurers,
WOOSHC has planned an
adventure hunt around
During the same week,
WOOSHC will take children
to the Monash Playground
for a day trip and will end the
first week of activities with a
'movie star' day.
Children will have a chance
to become film stars and
directors to create their own
WOOSHC will then be
closed on Monday, October 6,
but will reopen on Tuesday
with a sporting spectacular
day.The other days will include
a Barossa Bowland and mini
golf day, emergency services
excursion and playground
party to end the second week

NOMINATIONS are now open for the
2014 Young Achiever Awards.
The search is on to give a 'pat on the back' to
young male and female achievers, up to 28 years
of age, through entry in the Channel 9 Young
Member for Stuart Dan van Holst Pellekaan
said he was keen to see local young people
who are achieving excellence or serving the
community nominated for the awards.
"We have so many very talented and
community-minded young people in the Stuart
electorate who deserve to be acknowledged for
their efforts," he said.
"I encourage all community members to
consider nominating a young person.
"These awards provide us with an
opportunity to say 'thank you' to our young
people at a state level."

will be presented with a trophy and $1000 from
